A Little About . . . The Ogden Valley Home of the 2002 Winter Olympics
Home to approximately 7,000 year-round residents,
the Ogden Valley is nestled in the Wasatch Mountains at an elevation of just
over 5000 feet and located approximately 10 miles east of Ogden
and forty-five miles north of Salt Lake City. There are elementary and
middle schools, a county library, parks, business centers and churches
representing many denominations. The Ogden Valley is surrounded by
three major mountain peaks: Monte Cristo, Mount Ogden and Ben Lomond. All
tower above nine thousand feet and overlook the serene valley below.
Pineview Reservoir sits quietly on the valley floor and covers nearly
three thousand acres hosting sandy beaches, water skiing, year-round fishing and a
yatch club. |
Originally settled in 1860 by seven families, the Ogden Valley has long been known for its outstanding beauty and abundance of wildlife. Huntsville Town is the site of the first free public school in the state. Utah's oldest saloon, The Shooting Star, is still operating in Huntsville, and is known for "the Best Burger in the West". With four distinct seasons, come and enjoy the green growth of spring, warmth of summer, blazing autumn colors and of course, world-class skiing during the winter. |
